Repair by equipment

Repair of PLCs

Programmable logic controllers for industrial machines and processes.

Symptoms

What brings this equipment to the bench

If the machine's behaviour matches one of these, the diagnosis will sort it out. None of them requires the manufacturer to still support the line.

  • Will not power up, or restarts on its own mid-cycle
  • Loss of program or retentive memory after a power outage
  • I/O module not reading a sensor or not driving an output
  • Communication failure with the HMI or the SCADA system

What TECSI does on PLCs

  • Backup of the program and the retentive memory before any intervention, including before a battery change
  • Internal power supply repair: electrolytics, regulator, ripple measurement on the oscilloscope and rail voltage checks under load
  • Backup battery replacement with memory preserved
  • CPU testing in a bench rack, with scan cycle and watchdog
  • Channel-by-channel I/O module testing with signal simulation: dry contact, 0 to 10 V, 4 to 20 mA, PT100, thermocouple
  • Repair of the communication interfaces (serial, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Modbus) and of the isolation optocouplers
  • Technical cleaning of board and connectors, recovery of oxidized contacts on the rack backplane
  • Final test with the rack assembled and I/O simulated, under burn-in

Whatever cannot be recovered is stated in the report, before the quote.

Repair

How the equipment goes through the workshop

The same process applies to every brand and every piece of equipment. Nothing is carried out before the quote is approved.

  1. 01

    Intake and identification

Entry record, photos of the condition on arrival and identification of manufacturer, model, serial number and firmware version.

  2. 02

    Diagnosis and report

Bench analysis of the fault, testing the input, power, control and feedback stages. The report identifies the root cause, not just the burned component.

  3. 03

    Quote

Customer approval before any intervention. An unrecoverable part or an economically unviable repair is reported as such.

  4. 04

    Repair

Component replacement with new or approved equivalent parts, solder rework, technical cleaning and insulation restoration.

  5. 05

    Functional test under load

The equipment is tested under real operating conditions, not merely powered up on the bench.

  6. 06

    Burn-in and release

A continuous test period before return, accompanied by the technical report of the work performed.

  7. 07

    Warranty

Warranty on the work performed, with technical support after the equipment is returned.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair PLCs of any brand?

Yes. PLCs repair is multi-brand and covers discontinued lines, with a spare-parts stock of IGBTs, encoders, and resolvers, including for what is out of production.

How long until I get the quote?

Within 12 hours of receiving the equipment, with the diagnosis and commercial proposal detailed before any work begins.

Do I have to stop production during the repair?

Not necessarily. While we repair yours, we lend an equivalent unit so production keeps running, at no cost. There is emergency service outside business hours, on weekends and holidays, for a stopped line.

Are the assessment and the repair guaranteed?

The technical assessment is free with no obligation to proceed. Once repaired, the equipment comes back with a warranty and post-repair technical support.
